My first public speaking event on April 7&8, 2023

How I Got this Opportunity? One day I was at my office and normally I checked my LinkedIn. I got a notification that we are organizing an event so would you like to become our speaker for the event.  For 2 mins I read something wrong but after pinching my arm after some seconds I was overjoyed to see that I was actually invited as a public speaker, An opportunity I was looking for and was preparing for such a long time.  Without giving it much thought, I said a big YES as this opportunity knocked on my door itself. I was completely confused about the topic. So, I discussed it with the organizer of the event and decided that I would help the people by telling them about the opportunities and job roles available in the market. I prepared a presentation for that and got it approved by the organizers DAY 1: The Event on 7th April (LPU) The event was organized at LPU University. I boarded the bus from my place at 6:30 and intended to reach the university by 9:30 AM but I reached th...

Those 11 rules from the book "IKIGAI"

Life is precious. You rule your life when you live it with discipline and the right principles. Below are some of the points from the book "IKIGAI" that could help us lead a good life. 1. Follow an 80-20 rule while eating. Always eat 80% and leave 20% stomach empty. So that your digestive system doesn't have to work much on digesting your meals. This Keeps you active. 2. When you work on something, always keep distracting things away. This helps you to attain a state of flow which in turn helps you get better concentration and pay attention to the minute details 3. Taking too much stress make your body age faster 4. If you keep sitting for more than 30-40 minutes, The mechanism of the body slows down. It turns lethargic.  5. Walk for at least 20 mins in the morning every day.   6. Follow a POMODORO principle while working. 25 mins of work, 5 mins of break makes 1 POMODORO. Make 4 POMODOROS and take a longer break. Good for creating focus 7. Talking to people w...

Monday Mornings

Why are people scared of Monday mornings? Why do they sleep unhappy on a Sunday night and happily on Friday night? Why can't we sleep happily on weekdays? I think we should sleep more happily on a weekday because we have accomplished something every day and we are more contended If you love your work then the upcoming Monday should be your motivation and not something you get scared of.  Do what you love and if you can't then love what you do, but don't make your life a "SAND CLOCK" Live it to the fullest ❤😊 #work   #motivation   #love   #sleep   #people

Tired or demotivated?

𝑮𝒖𝒚𝒔, 𝑾𝑬𝑬𝑲𝑬𝑵𝑫 𝑰𝑺 𝑪𝑳𝑶𝑺𝑬 … 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒖𝒔 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒃𝒊𝒈 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒇 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚 What comes up in your mind first, when you actually think about the weekend? The genuine answer is “A day when I don’t have to work”, “A day when I could wake up late”, “A day when finally I could rest”. Have you ever thought, Why do you want to take rest only from your work on a weekend, when the rest of the activities you do, are the same every day? I know after a continuous work cycle of 5 days, we need a change and a bit of relaxation. It's actually healthy for our mental and physical health as it replenishes our energy. But all we are doing is, tying ourselves to a continuous cycle where we feel relieved when we don’t have to work i.e. Saturday and Sunday. We are continuously conditioning our minds that the weekend is for resting and not for working. And there are various reasons for the above: # We are demotivated # We don’t know wher...

Sometimes, its not you, its the environment

I had a plant that was in growing stage. Every time I saw that plant, I used to observe that plant has smaller leaves. That species tend to have bigger leaves. One day during some activity, I mistakenly broke a twig. Felt a bit bad. So I planted that twig in another pot with no hope that it will grow. I am a plant lover so that incident affected me a bit badly. I felt like I have broken someone's arm. I used to check that plant everyday, to see if its still alive. Then, I went to my workplace for two months. When I visited home, to my surprise, It grew. Yes, It grew, It had a bunch of flowers on it with such bigger leaves. May be that was the happiest moment of my life Moral of the story: Sometimes, Its not us, Its the environment around us. We usually have the stamina to grow but the environment suppresses our skills and qualities. The worst thing we do in this case is “We doubt ourselves”. This is the reason, even if we grow in that environment, we will have smaller leaves. We ca...

Arts of a manager

It's been a month since my journey in management started. There are new things unfolding themselves. Till now I have observed 2 things that seem very important to becoming a good manager  1. The art of observation: When it comes to getting out productivity from the team, You first have to understand the work nature of each member on the team. You have to think like each and every one of them and try to be a different person to everyone. Every day you put your feet in the shoes of each one of them. You have to become a multi-personality person at the same time  Thus constant observation is necessary. Until you reach the root of their behavior in different situations, Getting the work done by them is pretty difficult. I am still working on it as it is a very long chapter  2. Prioritization Your team is totally dependent on you when it comes to information. Whatever you communicate will be worked upon by them. At the end of the day, The output depends upon the inform...

Management is an outcome not an effort

When I ask somebody about Management, I get long definitions...Like ... It is a way we manage the resources. It's a way we manage the time, It's a way we get the work done. Management Is art and science (That popular MBA definition) People usually think of management as a job. They think management can be only done during jobs by experimenting with resources and deadlines. But, What I think is Management starts from the very minute your alarm rings. The way you manage after waking up from a tiring day. Management is, Scheduling the tasks for the day and accomplishing them.  Timeboxing majorly helps in management. If the tasks are not time-boxed, we will never understand the value of time. Because we think, we have forever to accomplish these tasks... Time-box the tasks... And you will be the master of each and every minute you spend in a day. When time boxing becomes a habit, management becomes the ultimate consequence. You don't have to manage anything. It gets managed its...
