My first public speaking event on April 7&8, 2023

How I Got this Opportunity?

One day I was at my office and normally I checked my LinkedIn. I got a notification that we are organizing an event so would you like to become our speaker for the event.

For 2 mins I read something wrong but after pinching my arm after some seconds I was overjoyed to see that I was actually invited as a public speaker, An opportunity I was looking for and was preparing for such a long time.

Without giving it much thought, I said a big YES as this opportunity knocked on my door itself. I was completely confused about the topic. So, I discussed it with the organizer of the event and decided that I would help the people by telling them about the opportunities and job roles available in the market. I prepared a presentation for that and got it approved by the organizers

DAY 1: The Event on 7th April (LPU)

The event was organized at LPU University. I boarded the bus from my place at 6:30 and intended to reach the university by 9:30 AM but I reached there at 8:30 AM. As it is a very vast university in culture and Also, area, I walked a long distance to look for my block. The block was 34-111.

When I reached there, I noticed there was something going on like some kinda fest or something. I didn't give it much attention and moved on to my block. Various people helped me on the way. I felt like I too was a student like them. LOL, I was feeling like 22 since I entered the gate.

Finally, Reached the block and was warmly welcomed by the organizers. At the very first moment, I felt these are my people. The vibes matched...

After some time, The event started. People started coming to the Auditorium, and The number gradually increased. 1,2, 4, 7, 10, 17, 25, 100, 180......

My hands were sweating and getting cold. The projector was set and presentations of other people started.

After 1 hour, My name was announced,

Organizer: We have Nitika Verma with us who will tell you about various opportunities in the market. Let's welcome her with a huge round of applause...

The loud applause, Hiked and decreased my confidence at the same time. I was like: Someone please say, we have to close the event now...

But I was on the stage and wished good morning everyone. The crowd was not very active at that time. So, I did everything I could do to attract them and energize them

And then it took me at least 5 mins to settle on the stage. Then I became comfortable with the audience. After that never looked back. Some people really enjoyed it and gained insights and some of them looked tired. At the end had a Q&A session and closed the speech

The feedback was: The speech was influential and had some controversial things as well. But as it was my first time, which was ignored by everyone and I was given a second opportunity

I was freed up so went outside to get some air. To my surprise, I saw there was something very interesting going on outside. That EVENT!!!

It was named the us World Event in which students from all countries presented their culture. I went inside it with my Brother. We danced with the people of Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Ayodhya. I was dancing like anything and I didn't know with whom did I dance.

I was overwhelmed at the moment, TBH, due to the successful speech and I was happy inside. It was like I won the world...

After that when I was too tired, I went out for home.

DAY 2: The Event on 8th April (PCBT)

This day was even more interesting. We went to Pyramid College. This college had another name some years ago but I had a flashback that I visited that college some years ago for admission and was not selected in that college, LOL. Because I had very fewer marks in chemistry in +2

It was a nostalgic feeling. However, we entered the college and met the team. There was no audience till then. So we awaited the audience. Due to the wait, The event was 3 hours late approx. So we decided to go live. The audience was less than expected

The presentations started and this time my presentation was after the lunch break. This time I was not much nervous. I thought I will slay it because the audience was less and Yesterday I got comfortable on the stage sooner.

Maybe that was over-confident of me to think that. When I was called upon the stage, I got nervous and felt like I was forgetting things and couldn't explain much

It was because the Audience was less and I was focussing on the automatic. Secondly, I wore contact lenses, due to which my vision was not clear. 🤣

However, In the end, it went well. We enjoyed ourselves a lot with the audience. We danced and got so involved with them.

We were awarded trophies for our hard work and were warmly welcomed on the stage by the staff of the college

The event ended...

Conclusion

Both events were life-transitioning for me. I want to grow more in this career and guide more and more people and help them grow.

Thanks for reading...

Arts of a manager

It's been a month since my journey in management started. There are new things unfolding themselves. Till now I have observed 2 things that seem very important to becoming a good manager  1. The art of observation: When it comes to getting out productivity from the team, You first have to understand the work nature of each member on the team. You have to think like each and every one of them and try to be a different person to everyone. Every day you put your feet in the shoes of each one of them. You have to become a multi-personality person at the same time  Thus constant observation is necessary. Until you reach the root of their behavior in different situations, Getting the work done by them is pretty difficult. I am still working on it as it is a very long chapter  2. Prioritization Your team is totally dependent on you when it comes to information. Whatever you communicate will be worked upon by them. At the end of the day, The output depends upon the inform...

EXPLORE YOURSELF

Life is full of wrong and right turns. You have to pass through these turns to get to the right path.  Sometimes na, it happens .... it happens that before getting to the right path, we take some wrong turns. It is called EXPLORATION You are probably in the exploration stage of your life , where you are taking turns, staying there for a while, and observing things. And now you have started feeling stuck. By the way, Feeling stuck is good. It is a reminder, HEY, TIME TO TAKE THE NEXT TURN !!! and   BELIEVE ME!!! It's worth taking. When you move, you GROW and become a better DECISION MAKER . You become more EXPERIENCED.  Experience is the best teacher and Movement is an important aspect of life. Move but don't run. Move- experience-learn at your own pace -  INTERNAL EXPLORATION.  Remember, Every time, switching situations don't help.... in turn.... it might get you stuck in another situation. Maybe, some aspects of that situation need to be changed and not ...

Those 11 rules from the book "IKIGAI"

Life is precious. You rule your life when you live it with discipline and the right principles. Below are some of the points from the book "IKIGAI" that could help us lead a good life. 1. Follow an 80-20 rule while eating. Always eat 80% and leave 20% stomach empty. So that your digestive system doesn't have to work much on digesting your meals. This Keeps you active. 2. When you work on something, always keep distracting things away. This helps you to attain a state of flow which in turn helps you get better concentration and pay attention to the minute details 3. Taking too much stress make your body age faster 4. If you keep sitting for more than 30-40 minutes, The mechanism of the body slows down. It turns lethargic.  5. Walk for at least 20 mins in the morning every day.   6. Follow a POMODORO principle while working. 25 mins of work, 5 mins of break makes 1 POMODORO. Make 4 POMODOROS and take a longer break. Good for creating focus 7. Talking to people w...
