Just completed the book "AS A MAN THINKETH" by JAMES ALLEN. It is a small-sized 82-paged book that tells, "There is a very deep relationship between mind and thoughts". The book basically indicates that to clean your mind; keep your thoughts clean. Let's dive a bit deep into the points below:
THOUGHT AND CHARACTER
- A man is the maker of himself. He will become, what he wills
- Our thoughts are the seeds, Actions are blossoms(flowers) and fruits are either joy or sorrow based on the seeds
- The Man is the master of thought, the molder of character, the maker and shaper of condition, environment, and destiny
- Right application of thoughts ascends a man above divinity and wrong application of thoughts descend him below the beast
- Man is the master of thought even in his most weaker and abandoned state
EFFECT OF THOUGHTS ON CIRCUMSTANCES
- A man's mind is like a garden, Whatever you cultivate will bring forth. So cultivate good thoughts otherwise weed will grow and will produce their kind
- A man is imprisoned only by himself. His thoughts and actions decide whether he is a prisoner or a free bird
- Good thoughts and actions never produce bad results and bad thoughts and actions never produce good results. Corn begets corn and weed begets weed
- Suffering is always the effect of wrong thought. It is an indication that human is out of harmony with himself
- When a man searches for himself, he stops whining and accusing others of the cause of his condition. He then builds himself strong and noble thoughts
- Man imagines that his thoughts can be kept a secret. But he is wrong, His thoughts crystallizes into habits and then into circumstances
- Thoughts of fear and doubt crystallize into weak, unmanly habits which solidify into circumstances such as failure and slavish dependence
EFFECT OF THOUGHT ON THE HEALTH AND BODY
- Change of diet will not help a man who will not change his thoughts. When a man makes his thoughts pure, he no longer desires impure food
- Cheerful thoughts are the best physician that helps in dissipating the ills of the body
I hope you got an idea of what the book is trying to indicate. I would recommend you to read this book to get a deeper knowledge. It is worth investing your time.
Thank you for reading.
